Hello there! My name is Derek, a Hong Kong-based shoes aficionado and classic menswear enthusiast.  Growing up in an era of disposable fashion, I found myself more interested in knowing the stories and artisan traditions behind the shoes, shirts and suits we wear - who exactly makes them? Why are they made this way? What makes them different?  These are the things beyond the quality crafts themselves.

So I decided to start this blog to record and collect all the experiences and thoughts as I learn gradually how to build up a classic menswear wardrobe.  This blog is named 'The Side Gusset' simply because I am so obsessed with sartorial details.  I also hope this blog can serve as a platform to connect people who share the same passion for menswear attire.  Hope you would enjoy the content!
